DRAGONFLY 32

DYNAMIC CRUISING AND RACING TRIMARAN

Setting new standards in function and design

The Dragonfly 32 trimaran is the perfect combination of family cruising and racing. The impressive middle child of the family is powerful and fast – one of the fastest of the fleet – and offers plenty to serious racers looking for speed, versatility and safety.

With a new, modern and dynamic design, the Dragonfly 32 has that wow factor and is as easy to handle as her younger sister, the Dragonfly 28.

The Dragonfly 32 comes in two versions, the Touring with the standard rig and the more powerful version with a taller rig, the brand new Dragonfly 32 Evolution.

The dynamic and versatile Dragonfly 32 accommodates a crew of five to seven persons.

DRAGONFLY 32 KEY FEATURES

INTERIOR

You’ll enjoy an abundance of space below deck – the working surfaces and the saloon are transformed by the recessing of the centreboard, thanks to intelligent and thorough 3D design of the central module and the structural interior moulding.

The Dragonfly 32 comes with six full-sized berths, all of 2 m length. Forward, there is a double V-berth, and the aft cabin offers a comfortable double berth.

The interior layout is fitted out in maple wood as standard, with luxurious teakwood interior optional. Six to eight people can be seated comfortably on the main dinette table, and the functional galley is located centrally by the companionway.

The boat offers full standing headroom of 1.93 m in the main cabin – 1.87 m in the toilet/head section.

EXTERIOR

The Dragonfly 32 features an oversized cockpit offering space for the entire crew and family, and all halyards and lines lead to the cockpit for easy and safe handling. The 32 can easily be sailed short-handed.

An excellent option is the canvas ‘cabriolet’ which turns the cockpit into an exterior saloon, and you’ll enjoy an articulated bimini, ideal for warmer conditions.

The Dragonfly 32 features the famous ‘Swing Wing’ system designed more than 25 years ago, allowing the impressive multihull to be accommodated in a monohull berth.

Compared to previous models, the floats are even bigger – making the boat faster and far more powerful. The 32 is the fastest boat in the Dragonfly fleet.

KEY FEATURES

  • New high-volume wave piercing floats improving performance and offshore capability
  • Six full-sized berths
  • Swing Wing System as standard
  • Fastest multihull in the fleet

DRAGONFLY FACTS

DRAGONFLY DESIGNERS

Dragonfly founder Jens Quorning teamed up with Danish naval designers Olsen Design in 2005, and their innovative collaboration was the start of a successful new era for Dragonfly Trimarans, with the introduction of 3D design.

Steen Olsen is the sole owner of Olsen Design and has played an integral role in the design and calculations of the last four Dragonfly models. Steen has more than 20 years of experience in naval design and has designed folding propellers, hatches and optimised rig details for America’s Cup sailboats. Steen has a passion for sailing and has won several racing awards internationally.

DRAGONFLY BUILD

The Dragonfly reputation starts with what sets them apart … top of the line, fast, lightweight trimarans.

Dragonfly's construction has consistent quality, a great team and customisation. Dragonfly Trimarans have been made in the same boatyard for 50 years, working towards widespread acceptance. The production facility has dedicated and highly skilled staff setting impossibly high standards for modern boatbuilding today. Working closely with some of the most qualified and experienced suppliers and subcontractors in the world, resulting in boats of impeccable, flawless quality.

SWING-WING SYSTEM

The award-winning Dragonfly Swing Wing system was designed by Borge and Jens Quorning in 1989. Using this revolutionary system, the trimaran can be folded to reduce the beam by more than 50% in less than one minute per side, using no tools and operating only from the cockpit.

This unique folding system has been standard on all Dragonflies since the introduction of the Quorning Swing Wing system. This allows them to use marina berths intended for monohulls and to be trailerable, saving space when accommodated in a harbour, marina or on land greatly reduces your storage costs!

Sailboat Review: Lagoon Sixty 5

Cruising World – November, 2022

Of all the tweaks and changes in the design and layout of large cruising catamarans, surely the most innovative has been the addition of the flybridge steering station and “upstairs” lounging space.

Bluewater Sailing – May 2017

With the 20-horsepower diesel and sail drive ticking over slowly and the bow thruster—yes, bow thruster—working, Cam steered us out of a tight slip and headed down the creek. To deploy the amas, all we had to do was release one control line and pull on another and soon they were fully extended.
